They're both clearly the result of a fracturing or hallucinating psyche whose "uncanny valley" fear center is both overactive and really, really insisting upon this one really specific fractal repetitive thing. Someone with OCD got locked in a monomanic hallucinatory loop; "it insists upon itself".

To be clear, he's praising Draw Steel's insistence on making even more narrative things like Perks and Complications mechanically implemented and mechanically significant (unlike some other games).
But man I love finding someone on the same brainwave frequency as me.
