Interlinkages between the economy, climate change, and ecosystems. Research, teaching and doing my PhD @unileipzig.bsky.social. Part of @CDRmare.bsky.social. Studied at @jlugiessen.bsky.social @unipotsdam.bsky.social @uwmilwaukee.bsky.social.
I am very happy to be part of ECO-N as an associated PhD and have already gained a lot from all the interactions with all the other researchers and from the great courses offered.

Let’s work together for a climate-resilient development with high human well-being, healthy ecosystems and stopped climate change (IPCC AR6 WGII, Figure TS.2). Along rapid emissions reductions, conservation and restoration of ecosystems are needed for that.

I was very happy with the output and I loved interacting with all of these young bright people. It again gave me more motivation for my own research on these interlinkages and how they affect policy recommendations to increase human well-being in times of climate change and biodiversity loss.

The main mechanism can be seen in the figure by the IPCC (IPCC AR6 WGII, Figure TS.2). Currently anthropogenic climate change impacts the global human community directly, but also through lower provision of ecosystem services as they are also impacted by climate change.

In the workshop on „Economy, Climate and Ecosystems - A Systems Thinking Approach“, the participants collaborated in small groups to draw how the global economy, climate change and ecosystems are interlinked. I only helped along the lines as they already knew a lot it and learning from each other.
