Additionally, I wanted to move away from making “fanart,” but I’m thinking of doing a little visual art series of some of my favorite transformative musicians this year. I’ve already started a Gaga piece, but I think I’m gonna do more. What can I say? Art inspires art.

In conclusion, I am foaming at the mouth waiting for my date in the CHROMAKOPIA Tour and hoping that I get the privilege to see even more of my favorite performers who have altered my brain chemistry for the better.

2024-25 is also my year for live performances. Every concert I’ve attended has filled my body with a warm glow that radiates from within. Seeing a new obsession (Chappell Roan) perform in the same venue as an old favorite (Green Day) on the same day was such a special and unmatched experience.

Honorable mention to Hollywood Undead, Megan Thee Stallion, Kesha, and System of a Down for the gym tunes in my journey to get swole af 💪 I have been listening to and appreciating your music under a completely different mindset too

Music is going to single-handedly save me this year.

This is my love letter to:
Lady Gaga
Kendrick Lamar
Tyler, the Creator
Chappell Roan
Doechii

Y’all have given me music worth feeling, not just hearing.

I was never one to watch the Grammys either. But this year I did & there was something so special about it. It felt like a reset, a clean slate, a moment of appreciation for all that is to be appreciated. A wonderful display of artistry. A moment of validation for those who really deserved it.

This year, however… diving into the aural/sonic experience, dissecting lyricism, consuming this music in the context of our culture & society, forming community around it, and tying it all together with aesthetic presentation & artistry… it’s a completely new & overwhelmingly fulfilling experience.

Not only that, but my consumption of music in the past has been very surface level. If it sounded nice to my ears, I liked it — regardless of the meaning of the lyrics and the cultural context surrounding it.

Up until now, I’ve always just been sort of a casual appreciator of music. I like what I like and will replay the same songs/artists for years. My playlists look roughly the same as they did in high school. Call it nostalgia or call it hyper-fixation. It’s probably a combination of both.
