Besides all the many, many gross revelations in these emails, the thing that they really drive home is that these people mostly got where they are by being connected and lucky, not by being smart.

They would have released them, if not for the democrat shutdown. I expect next month we'll see the greatest job numbers ever, based on data from grubhub and ICE.

There are probably a handful of projects out there that are, maybe, advanced exploration. Even if you throw a TON of money at them and assume zero permitting time, you're still looking at a year of intense drilling, a year or two of studies, and a couple years of construction. 4-5 years at least.

I can only guess, but I figure it’s mostly because he’s only listening to the basest of his base and they see any hint of compromise as weakness. And they are *obsessed* with looking strong. This is not always a good political strategy.
