Tum Manners was a willing model for this harvest portrait. Tum meticulously groomed the massive gardens of Camp Cool Farms in MendocinoCounty. Tum, a beautiful woman from Thailand, smiled with this robust plant on a September morning. (Featured in my book)

Mila is one of the cannabis industry’s rare female icons. Read "How I Became the Hash Queen." Her autobiography chronicles her adventures and the challenges she's faced as a mom, inventor, traveler, lover and spiritual practitioner. (featured in my book)

The first stories I covered as a photojournalist focused on the Native American Church and peyote. In '97, I visited a cultivator in Arizona who tended plants in a greenhouse. I set up this shot with a selection of peyote iconography that he provided. (Featured in my book)

These burlap bags have been around for years. They're great novelty items. I stuffed this one full of paper towels and set it down among some Colorado wildflowers. But seriously, wouldn't it be great if growers could legally export their product across state lines?

In 2010, I met Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, aka the Iron Sheik. A retired Iranian-American pro wrestler, he’s the only Iranian world champion in WWE history. In real life, the Sheik is a cool dude, with an affinity for pot, which helped him heal from injuries.

After a hot day at Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota, dusk brought a heavy thunderstorm. Lightning was flashing everywhere. So I braced my camera on the top of a pickup truck and focused in the direction of the last flash of lightning I'd seen. I got lucky!

Prior to legalization, the Cup in Amsterdam provided Americans with an authentic taste of freedom. I photographed Derry (left) and Arjan following the 2010 Cup. Derry is the impresario behind Barney's coffeeshops. Arjan is the mastermind behind the Green House. They won multiple Cannabis Cups.

Richard Lee (1962-2025) passed away yesterday. He was a heavyweight of the cannabis movement. A paraplegic, he founded Oaksterdam University in 2007, which now has over 15,000 alumni. I photographed him at his Oaksterdam grow facilities in 2006. Richard is featured in my book.

I'm here on the Pine Ridge reservation once again for the Lakota War Pony Races, which take place tomorrow, the 149th anniversary of the Little Big Horn victory. I've taken lots of fine shots, but this photo of Zuya White Plume is probably my favorite. Zuya's flying braid punctuates the shot.

"People who express psychosis or psychotic symptoms, by and large, use all intoxicants at greater percentages than do people in the general population. So it is not surprising that many psychotics use cannabis. But that does not mean that the use of cannabis causes psychosis." -- Paul Armentano

Happy 87th Birthday to Tommy Chong. I've known him since '94 and photographed him countless times, including three of his eight HIGH TIMES covers. I asked him once what accounts for his massive popularity. He replied simply: "I'm real." My photos of Tommy are featured in my book! PotShotsBook.com

I laid a poster of the Constitution on a baking sheet and soaked it with lighter fluid. Then I lit a match and dropped it. Originally, this photo illustrated a feature in HIGH TIMES focusing on asset forfeiture. Now it's an appropriate response to Trump's rampages.

I took this shot long ago at the peak of harvest. I slipped the silver pitcher into my bag at the last minute hoping for the possibility of a photo op like this. The Northern Lights were provided by the late Crandy Johnson, a Tuscarora from western New York.

One morning while driving through Colorado farmland, traffic stopped for the this huge flock of sheep being herded down the highway. As usual, my trusty cameras sat next to me on the passenger shot. I grabbed a few shots. MAGA world looks pretty much the same...

My brother held up this sign ahead of the Canada-U.S. final at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Boston. He made the Toronto Sun!

Years ago, I purchased a poster of the Constitution, laid it on a baking sheet and soaked it with lighter fluid. Then I lit a match. After watching the news this week, it seemed appropriate to post the photo in response to Trump's rampages in his first week in office.

PELTIER RELEASED
One of my most prized possessions is the artwork that Leonard Peltier gave me. He became an accomplished artist behind bars. I visited him in prison in 2016. His pardon is an astounding event, one that I thought would never happen. I'm ecstatic.

I've visited Tommy Chong at his home in the Pacific Palisades several times. I hope his house has survived the fires. I'm thinking of him and my many L.A. friends who live in this peril. I photographed Tommy at his home for the HIGH TIMES cover on the left. (Sept. '98).

Glad to join BlueSky as Facebook becomes less desirable. Too many ads. And Zuckerberg is licking Trump's boots. Looking forward to posting images from my massive archive!
