In regards to how good it is, I love the series and consider all the money I've spent (more than 150 overall) to be worth it.
It's not for everyone, so check out the first book or two see how you feel. The first book is usually considered the weakest, but every book is some fans' fave

If you don't mind mass market paperbacks, those might be a milder cheaper option (prolly closer to $100-$120). The comment about Humble Bundle's good, just no telling when it'll pop up again. So maybe just accumulate one book at a time until it pops up again.

Pretty sureSilchas ends up with two swords (the 'singing' ones) at the end of MT, so definitely points there. Can't recall Iron Bars' weaponry

Recently finished House of Open Wounds by Adrian Tchaikovsky. First book in a while where I had to read the last 100 or so pages in one sitting cz the built momentum was that good!
