The special relationship between US and UK is largely a myth dreamt up by the musty eyed romantic and dual national Churchill. Mostly it’s one way traffic as it’s always “America First” even before Trump. The real special relationship is with Israel, where no cost too high, no act not excused.

I am sure this willy waving will help Chancellor Reeves in her economic mission to China this week.

The picture shown would be about half our fleet. Utter non starter and gratuitous willy waving.

Totally obvious. Short term politicians though always knife any proposal from the other side. The May plan in 2017 was decent but destroyed by Labour shroud waving and electioneering

The dilemma is, without US, NATO is a busted flush and wld likely disintegrate. European Defence not even embryonic and lacks will. UK defence threadbare and needs much investment. No unilateral power to face off Russia, China or frankly Iran

217 acres is not a big farm. 500 acres is only equivalent to 2 square kilometres. I strongly suspect that most of the smaller ones are tenancies and not covered by IHT anyway.

Entirely predictable. There has been excessive euphoria and self congratulation fm too many people. You can govern out offensive language and algorithm manipulation but not disagreement

Evidence. Not proof. Though I’m sure you are right
November 17, 2024 at 10:17 AM
Well. History shows we always take the sensible decision……doesn’t it?

Rapidly becoming home of the criminally insane and the impossibly selfish and greedy

Too early. People like Scot Gov and more tasteful SNP types still there. Need to hear from them if not some of their cybercretin followers.

Been like that for a very long time. They jacked around with the Dentists’ NHS contracts so they couldn’t make a professional income. Probably too late now. Watch GPs don’t end up doing the same.

If they have differentiated defined final benefits absolutely. Trustees have to all in their power to ensure those benefits are delivered for the lifetime of the scheme. If their section of the pot is tracking below where they need to be what remedy? What protection for them and members?

Don’t even think it……
November 15, 2024 at 11:55 AM
That’s Baloney isn’t it? As Thatcher famously said: “If you stand in the middle of the road you get knocked down.” There is no exit on the American side and we seem too proud and headstrong to admit our mistake and go back. All this totally predictable in 2016.

Don’t kid yourself. They are in thrall.

I wondered that too. I think the tech on BS is going to need to catch up with demand
