cold hard cash implies the existence of hot soft card

Porn, implying video these days, can train a response (exploitation elephant in the room). Erotic lit asks you to engage and imagine, not as easy to rot your brain even if it’s bad smut. Both at face value can be what you make of it…though you don’t often hear of debilitating erotica addiction.

My bias limits me with this a lot. Despite me enjoying dumber scenes, I write those ofc lol, it is interesting to read from people who do take sex seriously in literature and why they pursue a certain style. It takes an intentional passage to elevate the sex and relationship between character(s).

Not saying this to be contrarian (okay, a little), but, there is learning from making shitty smut, not just what not to do, but how to satirize the act and lighten things up. Or make awkward for a point, which I’d argue isn’t outside erotica’s scope.

Maybe also I am kind of diluting it though.

Is there a DNF title for any people you know that you did finish? Whether you enjoyed it or not.

It’s kind of vulnerable sharing feelings about what moves you and is a core part of your growth. Would have to say reading below, “real criticism” isn’t inherently less embarrassing imho, if “real” is being serious and nuanced.

You don’t have to share anything, but I agree to at least write it.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is probably that game for me, the rhythm aspect is meshed with other stuff vs. it being a pure rhythm game experience so it is more in my skill range

May not know the movie in question, but very few movies have nothing to say. Just different viewers who can mishear, not hear at all, or hear only what they want to.

Besides, I don’t even think everything has to say something. Critics (professional and otherwise) can be odd.

This has no relevance I’m sorry but

I didn’t have my glasses on and I thought your fingers (assuming this is your photo oops) were an overly realistic rendered muscular shoulder. From like. A glance.

Why would I think the art was avant garde with a mixture of styles

It can feel odd to work on stuff for myself and be entertained by it, same as the awkwardness or scrutinizing public eye that may happen if you laugh at your own jokes. Worse if I enjoy it more than creative stuff I find. Shaking that off means more fun, but it’s hard to do that!

Can totally agree here. I think I’m more able to like mainstream romances sometimes than others, but even then, when it comes to craving stuff that suits exactly what I want, why not make it myself?

There’s a shame, maybe, to get over about liking my own writing.

Oh Bad Omens has been sooo great, I actually found them from a mashup someone did (using Just Pretend vocals) with metal songs, ended up being the gateway for the rest.
Will check out Poppy and also ERRA!! Thanks!

Sometimes it’ll be one of those days. Hope this helps: Correct me if I’m wrong, but think I saw another post where you mentioned Spiritbox. Spotify listening got me into them recently, wondering if you had recs on albums or specific songs or related bands! (My metalcore fascination has grown lately)
