I'm an enthusiastic sampler of crafting hobbies, geriatric millennial, exvangelical Christian, wife, mom, WordPress developer, Minecrafter, and 📚🤓. Obsessed with solar freakin' roadways, split-testing, and Zapier. Impatiently awaiting transporters.
For my tapestry loom project, I need a large "fender washer" with a ¼″ hole. They're not readily available in brass, though.

Fortunately, there's similar hardware used in furniture restoration. Unfortunately, the hole is just shy of ¼″. Fortunately, brass is soft and I have a drill and clamps!

It's taking much longer than expected (which is pretty much the story of my life), but my tapestry loom pieces are all cut and sanded, and I have fasteners. Now we'll see how good my math was...

My criteria for "what constitutes an amazing shopping haul" have changed dramatically over time. Now that I'm into woodworking and CNC, new drill bits and weird little sandpaper gizmos THRILL me.

(And @yokoco.bsky.social helps me lean into my weird with a Personal Development Budget! 😍)

Tomorrow's project will be to weave in ends, stuff it, and get it in the mail!

I read that hornets are territorial and can be dissuaded from nesting by the presence of an existing nest—even if it's fake.

I decided to crochet one for my country-living Dad as a birthday gift. I used cotton yarn odds and ends I had on hand with the intent to bleach and dye it.

Working on my first cabled knitting project and learned that a short wooden needle with a thinner center can be used to hold and transfer stitches. So I thought, "Why not make one?!"

Well, maybe because I'm a lathe newb and take AGES to make anything. But I'm so excited to replace the metal DPN.

My teenager and I discussing, "centaurs have six legs and are therefore insects." He reasons that they don't exoskeletons so I say, "What if they're wearing armor?" He insists they NEVER wear armor, so I try to generate an image.

Midjourney really, REALLY doesn't know what centaurs look like.

This marketing for Anchor embroidery floss is beautifully targeted. They have nailed the pain points of using their competitor's product. (Not shown: it's only 10¢ more, which works out to 14% more money for 25% more product—intuitively a bargain.) I'm going for it the next time I'm floss-shopping.
