[Presentation thread]

Hi everyone, I think a presentation is due.
My name is Makhai and I'm a student in library science (Master degree, second year).

My first year paper looked at digital cataloging of zines, with a special focus on limitations and interoperability. (eprints.rclis.org/46902/)

Zine awards are bad and represent a misunderstanding of zine culture. I was glad when Broken Pencil zine awards went down with the magazine and I'm sorry to see this one come into being. Unsurprisingly co-sponsored by Microcosm Publishing, which also doesn't give a shit about zinester values.
We're launching a zine competition!🎉
ZinePrize is a first-of-its-kind FREE contest for nonfiction zines with the backing of @microcosm.bsky.social & @spj-posts.bsky.social. Eligible zines must have been published in 2025. Winner gets $500 and bragging rights. More details: zineprize.com

#ZineSunday #2 (a bit late, sorry !)

Today, a zine addressing issues of disability and lack of community support, particularly among queer people after COVID. With a healthy dose of anger.

I'm starting a #ZineSunday, where I present a zine I read this week.

For this launch, here is a zine about taste, algorithm and how to imagine a different way to consume music (or anything, really).
