Oddly modes cause an issue with variables stored in a custom code element (e.g. those using clamp). This means modes are unlikely to be rolled out to the likes of Lumos straight away. We need css functions available in variables first.

I guess there are no style props available. Classes are used for styles.
Have you tried the new variants? You could use that to change the background colour too.
