@minakimes.bsky.social @billbarnwell.com Has any offense tried to target 8-9 yards on first down? Maybe too predicable, but in some cases it's purely up to the runner.

Conversely, if you're running at defenders on 1st down and your choices are:

1. Step out of bounds 1 yard shy of new downs

2. Run into defenders at 10 yd line and gamble you can get through

then isn't the first option better? I guess this would be the simpler 3pt line analogy, offense to offense.

Wow. Bold. Dude it's not safe to say stuff like this on parking lot bbq day, they might hear you!! You should probably change your name to Jon Sopranos (Witness Protection).

I played one of the SSX games or demos (can't remember which). Thought it was fun/rad, but never went back to the series.

My 2c: I don't know what either of these titles are trying to convey or why it would be an interesting video. Something's missing imo. What made you want to make this video?

No doubt some of this stuff could be a much bigger can of worms than a few extra lines of code. But come on. What are the odds of losing this many coin flips in a row?

Using distinct suffix formats could avoid that whole mess. Then again, transfers could follow the same order as the user's sort setting (Old-New or New-Old), instead of starting with the newest files regardless. That'd effectively 2x the transfer threshold. But nope, not the PS Media Gallery way.

File name format is game title + date + timestamp. Best guess: Overlaps occur when two files are created on the same frame. Can happen if you manually take a screenshot at the same time as an automatic trophy screenshot. Or if you rapidly take multiple screenshots. Maybe there's some queue delay?

Just found out that file names ending in _1 don't always mean an existing file was duplicated during transfer. It's also possible for different images to have identical names with _1 at the end. So you can't even search for "_1.jpg" to quickly delete duplicates. Truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Anyway i let that run overnight and it worked! Except what it exported was a bunch of numbered 4GB archive.dat files that i can't open. I don't really feel like playing virus roulette with random homebrew tools today, so i'm gonna mark that as another W for commitment to the bit.

Thought i was onto something. There's a Backup and Restore tool in PS5 settings that lets you copy games, save data, and media to a USB drive. Of course it makes you wait 15-20 mins before letting you deselect games or start the transfer. That's a little something called narrative consistency.

Funny enough, deleting lots of files is much faster than selecting them. There's no progress bar or cancel opportunity. If there was, you could at least select all, delete, and cancel to gamble on wiping like 10k files at a time without manually selecting them individually. But nope!

Last and very much least, PS App is absolute garbage for managing media, so i'm not gonna waste much time talking about it. There are many reddit threads trying to troubleshoot the countless ways it fails to transfer files, with many "didn't work for me" replies to every outlandish workaround.

There's no resume transfer option. When you attempt to copy everything a second time, it doesn't ask if you want to skip the identical existing files on the USB flash drive. Instead, it recopies every file to the same folder, adding "_1" to the file name. I mean come on, how is this not trolling?

Again, no way to select a range of items. You can't hold-drag. You can't select a starting item, then long-press an ending item to select everything in between. That would make TOO much sense.
November 12, 2025 at 12:30 PM
There is a Select Multiple button which brings up another screen, adding checkboxes to all the thumbnails. However, every operation is painfully slow. It takes around 2 minutes to select 50 items, which means it would take 20 hours to select 30k items. Simply nonviable.

PS Media Gallery has Sort and Filter UI, but only to troll us. The only sort options are date and file size. The only filter is media type (Screenshots or Video Clips). There's no way to select a date range, file size range, or any other way to narrow down the number of screenshots. All or nothing!

You'll eventually notice a tiny PS notification that an error occurred and your console restarted. (Good luck finding that notification/error again after you close it.) This will happen repeatedly, usually at around 10k-25k files transferred, but sometimes much earlier.
November 12, 2025 at 12:30 PM
On the next attempt, you'll come back to the PS5 home screen with no confirmation whatsoever of whether the transfer competed or how many files were transferred. You can view the contents of the USB drive, but there's no Select All option to get a file count. You gotta check on your computer.

Transferring 50k files takes like five hours for some reason, but that's not the problem. There are many worse problems. The first time you try this, you'll come back to find that your PS5 has gone to sleep mid-transfer. Thankfully there's a setting to disable automatically entering rest mode.
