How do I explain to my boyfriend that we are not in the right space and place to have 2 dogs without seeming like I want him to get rid of his dogs?

my dog turns on the air purifier before he goes to sleep. we thought he was doing it accidentally, today we caught him doing it intentionally. i do not know what to think about this.
