I must disagree on some points. Mostly on his "exotica".
Flail: Not a peasant's weapon at Mair's time. City guards used it. Armies had professional soldiers use it. And it was also a fencer's weapon, as it was a staple of the Fechtschule of the time. See the copper etchings of Virgil Solis.
