I realize once again I’ve come to the internet to say “mobile games are bad but the devs are not” so can I just say some mobile games are very good!! also devs can be bad (even if I can count in one hand the number of people I’ve crossed paths with who were absolutely not caring about their players)

yeah so many are made in a style that is purposefully generic and unfortunately very genAI friendly

so I don't agree that casual players are more receptive to genAI, I think the numbers game just doesn't really care about how the numbers come to be

a LOT of people who work in these games care deeply about the games they are making, and how they are made, even if they must dance the free-to-play / weird ads / follow the market dance to make a living. And it's a reality of the format that things need to be fast and need to make numbers go green

mobiles games as its own industry tends to see players as big demographic blobs because the numbers are really that absurd, so no backlash is ever big enough to make a dent when you hit a certain size where you have millions of players coming back every day

a few factors here: dozens of games that deliberately look like other games come out every day, and there's an insane wheel of big titles doing what other big titles are doing. It makes genAI use less "visible" because the order is to follow the money; it's an extreme numbers-driven niche of gaming
