Good Boy finds Stephen Graham dealing with a different kind of adolescence, channelling Kathy Bates' Annie Wilkes in a darkly comic tale of enforced social rehabilitation. Mixed messages abound, but it's relentlessly bleak 'fun'. #LFF

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is easily my favourite of the series. Rian Johnson's mirror to the world mystery might go a little too "Scooby Dooby Doo," but it's yet another stunning showcase for the talents of Josh O'Connor. Damascus indeed. #LFF

#Superman - I wanted more, but I liked what we got. It's a bit too goofy for my tastes, but I'm not a comic book kid. Corenswet is fist-pumpingly good, and Brosnahan is everything I'd hoped for when she inherited the notebook and pen from Margot Kidder. Super solid. 🦸‍♂️ 🦸‍♂️ 🦸‍♂️

#28YearsLater is an absolutely beautiful coming-of-rage horror. Performances are superb across the board, especially the phenomenal Alfie Williams. The sound design is remarkable. What an ingenious way to execute a sequel. I cried quite a bit. 💀 ❤️

I feel like The Life of Chuck will benefit from a rewatch now that I know the rules, which is a good thing because I pretty much loved it the first time around. Full of moments that made my heart double in size and not even close to the journey I expected.🕺💃🗝💫❤️

#MissionImpossible Final Reckoning substitutes the fun for frowns, and the deluge of exposition during the opening 40mins is rough, but once the fuse is untangled it ticks towards a greatest hits send off of bombs and bi-planes that'll have the palms sweating. 💥💥💥

Didn't manage to get a ticket in the Southampton ballot, so this is it.

Remember that bit in Black Hawk Down where they let go of that guys arterial vein?? #Warfare is like that, but for 90 minutes. Poulter and Melton are exceptional, as is the sound design and meticulous direction. Brutal stuff.

I hope #Sinners lands big this weekend because that's an original world I want to spend more time in. Coogler has me bit. Intoxicating, sexy, and featuring some of the best cinema in recent memory. Jordan is incredible (natch). Miles Canton a revelation.

Forever was my favourite Batman as a kid.
Top Secret was my favourite Zuckers.
The Island of Doctor Moreau my favourite BTS story.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was my favourite film of 2005.
And the HEAT heist is one of my favourite pieces of cinema.
Cheers Val.

Well, there's no danger of Legend being usurped as my favourite film featuring the death of a unicorn because #DeathofaUnicorn was absolute bobbins. Tonally all over the place, and really quite insufferable.

Magic Mirror on the wall, it's hard to tell what was worst of all. Gal Gadot or the amorphous blobs that were the Seven Dwarfs. Having said that, Rachel Zegler's superb performance makes you forget everything going on around it, and Waiting On A Wish is an absolute banger. #SnowWhite

The Electric State is a little like one of the beautifully designed robots at the heart of the story: clunky at times, and made of recognisable parts, but occasionally sparks into life, ultimately just about hanging together. Anthony Mackie's Herm is the MVP.

Off to see The Electric State this evening. The premise is right in my wheelhouse, but the whole Netflix blockbuster vibe scares me a bit. Keeping all my fingers, nuts, and bolts crossed that it's good.

While I prefer Bong Joon Ho joints that don't lean too far into the absurd, Mickey 17 is still a heck of a lot of fun, and that's largely down to another committed and utterly captivating turn from Robert Pattinson[s].

The Gene Hackman news is incredibly sad. So many monumental performances, but his role as Royal Tenenbaum will always have a special place in my heart. Legend.

Despite the overuse of Dutch Angles, I'm two episodes into American Primeval and loving it. Gilpin makes most things must-watch, and it's great to see Peter Berg and Taylor Kitsch teaming up again. One of the rare Netflix limited series that makes the subscription worthwhile.

Amazed that Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has bypassed theatres in the U.S. because it plays like gangbusters with a large crowd. Renée Zellweger is fuck-fuckety-fucking brilliant as Jones, while the deeper themes really caught me off-guard.

Hard to find the words to describe that Merseyside Derby. Despite the nonsense at the end, it was almost the most fitting way to say goodbye beneath the Goodison lights. Welled up when Tarks tanked that one in. #Everton
