He does not appear to have ever lived in either, let alone used them as a principal residence. They were investment properties & rented out.

Ds should insist on a floor vote in both houses with no D assistance, on Rs’ CR. When it fails, voter'll know who to blame if the govt shuts down. That should also help focus everyone: What do Ds want in exchange for bailing out Rs’ from their utter incompetence?
