Thank you Common Ground Fair! It’s always fun to talk with Mainers who have questions and believe in the work we do!

We learned that many people hold socialist positions and beliefs who don’t even know it, and the support our volunteers received was overwhelming. 🌹🚩

On Sept 2, 1945, the Vietnamese declared their independence. Hồ Chí Minh referenced the US Declaration.

“All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights..”

The US then went on to wage a senseless war.

Let us acknowledge the right of self determination.

Happy Juneteenth! Why do we celebrate this important holiday, and why do some conservatives hate that we do?

On June 19, 1865, the Union Army finally took control of Texas, the last bastion of Confederate holdouts. They enforced the liberation of all slaves, over 250,000 left in the state.

Over 1,500 people gathered in Portland on May Day to express their support for labor and oppressed peoples everywhere. We are proud to be part of this coalition.

We smell a united front forming. ✊🚩

🇻🇳 Happy Liberation Day 🇻🇳

50 years ago today, Vietnamese forces triumphantly marched into Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), reunifying the nation after TWO independence wars against foreign imperialist forces, France and the US.

Vietnam is a success story for anti-imperialists everywhere.

Happy International Women’s Day!
✊🚩

From its roots in 1908 when women in NYC struck for better working conditions and the right to vote, to socialist women making it a global holiday, and this holiday’s role in sparking the Russian Revolution, we forever stand together demanding liberation for all!

Housing in Maine is becoming more and more untenable by the month. It’s not just around Portland. It’s affecting midcoast, Lewiston, Bangor, and more.

There is a forum today for tenants looking to establish greater solidarity. Join in-person, on Zoom. If you rent, you want to be here.

Jess Falero has organized another solidarity event for the unhoused community as winter sets in and the sweeps continue.

If you live in Portland, Maine, please ask your councilors to support Order 68-23/24 to stop encampment sweeps.

For the second time this year, Portland voters have turned out in overwhelming support of tenant rights and voted against a referendum designed to increase landlords’ profits and decrease tenant protections. We are so proud of this city of ours, but the fight doesn’t end here.

Courts place people into conservatorship by deciding they're mentally unfit -- a term which has been used against marginalized people. While the provision in question is not currently enforced, it could serve as a trigger law like after Roe v Wade.
Vote YES ON QUESTION 8 to protect voting rights.
November 4, 2023 at 6:56 PM
YES ON QUESTION 6 to require that all official printings of Maine's constitution include the entire document, including Section 5 which states Maine’s commitment to honor “all duties and obligations … towards the Indians” accepted as part of Maine’s separation from Massachusetts in 1820.
