Re:Zero fan | she/her
in the end there is only so much i can feel for a series about more cis allyship than transness and because transness is absurdly hard to wrap around but so far it’s been real nice

i also really like how the love triangle ends up driving conflict here, usually it’s not a trope i have particular interest in but here i really liked it? i think it’s because there is this surface level of understanding but the struggle is more of how to try and navigate around it

i wish she could also be a little messier sometimes because she’s kinda just too perfect in her responses? she needs a bit more flair in her struggles rather than using the protagonist as her mouthpiece

i do wish we got to see at least a glimpse of Ushio’s thoughts because even if she is often the focus and it juggles her problems pretty well there isnt really what her introspection is like

even a couple of pages would do

it has a certain level of constant self-awareness that it keeps trying to reach whilst also being aware that proper understanding is ever elusive

i love how it untangles the prejudices of the protagonist whilst being a supportive figure and especially some of his complexes within the second volume being tackled
January 4, 2025 at 11:06 AM
first off the volume covers are beautiful and i love the design of ushio

i think this one is outside of your target audience

overall i enjoyed it and it did what it needed to but not really anything more than that so yeah good game and i miss playing Zeldas

it’s very much a game to play on the side with this pick up and play nature
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
the general structure and puzzle design may be rather outdated but it provides a uniquely fulfilling experience that anyone can enjoy
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
which means that you can do pretty much anything without even a slight bit of hesitation and makes for a strangely fulfilling experience despite the little things being underwhelming
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
it’s a game you can very much just turn off your brain and do whatever first pops into your head and it will work
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
there was clearly a lot of effort put into every aspect of this world with the amount there is to do: from the plentiful sidequests, little lore bits and just general beautiful environment
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
and they jam packed this world with little intricacies everywhere in order to explore and utilise that freedom which makes it so fun to go through
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
but what this game does provide is nigh absolute freedom with its mechanics, there are so many different ways to solve all kinds of puzzles and makes the simplicity really shine
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
the UI can be absolutely awful when trying to find the right echo that you may have not used for a while which seems like such an obvious problem
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
the dungeons are just not that good in terms of puzzles and the combat can be a bit clunky with reliance on AIs
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
honestly Zelda being the protagonist is just a mere novelty because functionally it’s still all the same and plays very similarly to other 2D Zeldas in structure
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
it seems Nintendo’s reviving 2D Zelda from the recent remake of Link’s Awakening to this game with a little twist to entice
December 30, 2024 at 8:30 AM
sure

all being said i still do prefer the WN version because there’s just a lot more well fleshed-out dynamics, it managed to give a better insight into Subaru’s psychology and also sells the lonely nightmare that suffocates him way better which kinda forms the aesthetics of the arc
