I can still remember going to see the movie The Harder They Come at the theater on Mass Ave in Cambridge Massachusetts, probably in 1974. Played the title song in my car many times on a cassette I used to have.

Some years back I saw this luggage displayed in a thrift store in California. They had a label, "USSR Cold War Defector Iron Curtain ... Rare... Taking offers."

I've been reading memoirs from South Africa and I believe it's going to take a long time to turn this around. The National Party took power in 1948, institutionalized apartheid. The system was dismantled 1990-94, taking decades of struggle.

I don't know Lahore but this definitely sounds like a book I would love to read. I too am a walker of cities, just returned from Dhaka after an eleven-year absence.
