Grace Hopper’s groundbreaking work on early programming languages turned abstract logic into machine-readable code. Her innovations laid the foundation for the software that powers our world today.

Her response aside (she has her own reasons - personal and professional - for this posturing), I’m annoyed by the sub-par journalism on display. Why would you ask Wu if she would meet with Trump? Of course she’d only accept an invite with certain conditions.
Mayor Michelle Wu said she has no interest in confabbing with President Trump as New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani did last week while in Washington:

“I’m not interested in a bromance with the federal regime,” Wu said.
Mamdani can have his ‘bromance’ with Trump, but Mayor Wu says she’s ‘not interested’ - The Boston Globe
Last Friday’s meetup between President Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani raised eyebrows on both sides of the political aisle.

Fascinating article on the decline (?) of literature with a global perspective

There’s no point in denying it anymore: literature as we know it is well on its way to becoming a lost art.

In an old city that hugs the harbor, there are many critical roads, railways, and tunnels that were built decades ago for a climate that no longer exists. Just consider Morrissey Boulevard, which now regularly floods. trib.al/3bJfqxx

Applications are open for the Boston School Committee at boston.gov/bsc-apply.

We’re working to make @bostonschools.boston.gov the first choice for families. Serving on the School Committee is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our BPS community.

Foliage peaking around New England. Peak color to spread through Mass by this weekend and through next week. Parts of Northern New England are already past peak. This weekend ahead may be the last shot to capture bright sights across some of the most popular areas!

What a treat to attend Steve McQueen’s first Norton lecture of the year! We saw “End Credits” (2016) accompanied by 4 actors. Such a powerful piece. Evergreen.
