GOP didn’t care about millions of people losing SNAP benefits. Do you honestly think they would ever care about people not being able to pay for health insurance? Go to any food bank and ask people what they want… most don’t understand the politics, they want the shutdown to end just to survive.

Shutdown proved Trump and his GOP puppets have absolutely no compassion or concern for the American people. Dems were counting on GOP finally doing the right thing but after 6 weeks realized they won’t and never will.

So let the shutdown go on indefinitely knowing the GOP will NEVER give in on the ACA issue EVER… is that a win?

Good point… the shutdown would have continued indefinitely because GOP made it clear that they don’t care who starves, who has no paycheck, or what businesses go under due to the shutdown. They would NEVER give into democrats on the ACA issue. That being the case, Dems had no leverage.

Idk, Dems aren’t just between a “rock and a hard place”… it’s more like a ‘rock and a rock’. When the GOP will NEVER give in, are willing to cause further suffering, even burn down the entire country, what leverage do you really have… NONE!

GOP would not budge. They do not care if people starve or lose their jobs or health benefits… On the orders of Trump, they will burn the country to the ground. If Dems refuse to make a deal, the shutdown never ends and ppl suffer even more. Dems had to do the humanitarian thing in the end.

I agree with you and I hope more ppl can see things from this perspective. The country is so divided and the last thing we need is to pit democrats against other democrats.
