The relentless rain has finally stopped. Now I need to tackle the industrial scale weeding. This is a pretty inaccessible part of the garden. 🌱

I had a lovely surprise this morning while doing a tour of the garden 🌱. A huge owl was sitting on the top of an old tree stump. I haven't heard owls for some time and I was worried that they had moved on. Especially after the firework hell of New Year.

Can you spare a thought for all of us in "sunny" South Africa? After weeks of unrelenting heat with temperatures up in the late 30s, we now have biblical rain since last week, until well into New Year. Everyone here normally plans on outdoor gatherings at this time of the year... 😂

My first, and probably only, tomato this summer. The heat has really set back production 🙄🌱

We are having ridiculously hot temperatures in Johannesburg since September. Coupled with very little rain and water shortages it's been a challenge keeping my garden alive. Some things seem to like this weather though.
Sweet potatoes are doing well.

I am the queen of recycling. In fact I never throw anything away, just in case. Hence the repurposed mosquito net and bedframe on the wall (for cucumbers)
