My rolling stone poppa loved singing "Me & Mrs Jones" and to this day I wonder who he had in mind when he sang it.

Real life has become a bad Twilight Zone episode and some people are happy with that.

Thank you. It was a lot, but in retrospect I'm glad I did it. It was a weird time, but I cherish the memories.

Maybe...it does seem as though he was loosening up in later years. When I turned him down it was because I knew he put restrictions on writers and it seemed to be about control. My girlfriend, who died the month before, had been his publicist, which I guess was the reason he requested me.

You're right. I actually turned down the chance when it was first offered. It was cool meeting him one on one, but he didn't allow tape recorders and, to me, was overly cryptic when answering questions. It was weird, but I'm glad it happened. Check my essay "Love in the Age of Prince" for more info

It did. I couldn't even believe that I was invited, but I was friends with the PR people at the label. I believe there was a performance followed by a press conference. I wish I had kept a diary in those days. I returned 3 years later when I interviewed him for Code magazine.

I recall seeing Diana Dors on an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Even as a kid I was like, "Who the HELL is that?"

Bobby Womack singing "Summertime" with The Roots was always my favorite. There was a launch party for this project at Webster Hall in NYC where most of the album line-up performed their covers. Unfortunately, Womack got so smashed backstage that The Roots had to go on without him.

I don't know... reminds me of the old school cursive the nuns screamed into me. And it's readable . LOL
