Had a wonderful time recording @witches7hunt.bsk.social podcast episodes today, with @witchesetc.bsky.social and @folklorepod.bsky.social! And bonus discovery of Owls in Towels which isn't relevant but IS great

Really looking forward to speaking at Somerset Rural Life Museum this evening about cunning folk, rural magic, and animal medicine 🌿 Shout-out to Terry Pratchett's witches, who are still the best fictional portrayal of cunning folk (albeit by a different name) 👌

If you haven't already, check out Anne Lawrence-Mathers' THE MAGIC BOOKS. I had the good fortune to read an advance copy and loved it - accessibly-written, stunning illustrations, and, of course, absolutely fascinating!

CUNNING FOLK has been translated into Russian!

I've known about this for a while, but didn't know how I felt given what's going on in the world. But isolationism and curtailing knowledge never made the world a better place, so ultimately I think I'm glad. Plus the cover is mad and I love it.

I've had great fun working on my talk for Somerset Rural Life Museum today ✍️ I've been going through my database for South West cunning folk and spells useful for farm life. A favourite is the cure for 'a cow that cannot dung' 🐄

First draft of an article done! VERY much Draft Zero - written only for me, absolutely no-one else can read it - but it's good to have the thoughts down on a page. Now to leave it alone for a week while the ideas percolate 🧠 💭
