Writes novels. Funny ha ha or funny strange. Likes things that go.
Come seem me at a special Nashville event to celebrate Friends of Fantasy Day—every ticket includes a signed, doodled copy of The Scorpio Races. Because of the doodles, space IS very limited! parnassusbooks.net/event/2026-0...

Okay! If you want to snag one of the original pieces of art from my Dachshunds of the Old Masters project, I finally got the rest of them listed: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?i...

A portion of sales go to a charity that rescues old dogs.

Me? In a d r e s s? It could happen, especially at a literary gala in Texas. I've been in more heels this year than in the past decade.

I'll be in Miami this weekend and St.Louis two weeks-ish after that—come see me (I will not be in a dress).

I'm just about to jump on a plane for Texas Book Festival. Am I coming anywhere near you this fall? For those asking: usually you can bring two books from home for signing in addition to my new one.

It is the first day of November—

Throwback to this 2011 trailer I animated and composed for The Scorpio Races.

(Notice the paint is still wet on a bunch of slides because I was so behind on a bunch of real deadlines while I was playing around with this).

Today I was out walking with Thing 2 when he suddenly vanished.

He had, in fact, disappeared up to his waist in a sinkhole.

Over on the ol’ Substack, I rewrite a page from The Dream Thieves four times to demonstrate how editing can change the meaning of events in a novel.

The other day, Thing 1 asked, "What was Simple Cat's original name again?" and I had to really give it a think, because she's just been Simple for so long.

one of my very first novels began with a scene featuring 2 dogs test-driving a car (Scottish Terriers, red Porsche)(it was not good)(I was a child).

I'm doing my best to pay homage to this 35 year old scene in my next novel. We'll see if it survives editing.
