Beautiful! Apparently they have to do the secularizing service after everything sacred (altar linens, etc.) has been removed. Glad those could help others at least

In the Episcopal Church--related to CofE but for US, Caribbean, Latin America, etc.--it's called "Secularizing a Consecrated Building" (in the church's "Book of Occasional Services"). The church won't sell the property without doing it

Ironically, a lot of US churches have come back around to being communal spaces--where you go for an AA mtg, to send your kid to nursery school, hear a concert, attend a yoga class, vote in an election, etc

The Brookline Booksmith in Brookline, Mass., has a section of their weekly e-newsletter devoted to these called "Find of the Week"--stuff found in used books they bought for the store. Love them

I fostered a cat who would come and sit on the bathtub rim between the layers of the shower curtain while I took a shower. Clearly she was concerned about all that water.... 😂

As an editor (of academic books mainly), the thing I wish more authors understood is that we want your book/article to be better. We're on your side! We don't get everything right and can disagree on stuff but we're not out to get you. We want you to succeed!
