A question: are these two Lamy fountain pens both the Safari model? The one on the right is approx’ 10 to 15 years old, and the one on the left has just arrived. The one on the right being appreciably larger with a different feed and longer nib. I know the ring makes a difference in length. Curious.

Any of you wear your hair pinned up like this. Quite novel and an appropriate statement, don’t you think?

I suppose they let out the heat created from excitement awaiting their new owner. “Who shall it be, who shall it be!”

Does anyone have info’ concerning any stores/shops selling fountain pens, inks, papers, etc in Burgundy, France?

Van Dieman’s September 2023 LE is a lovely chromoshader. It goes from a dark grey-green, to mossy green and purple. It should look lovely in a broad nib to show off the shading.

Yep, my writing is atrocious, but not as bad as some. However, a fountain pen is like a crutch for a broken leg. And then becomes a walking stick to help whilst further healing follows. Walking unaided becomes the challenge, with dancing being the goal.
“What lovely writing,” you hear them say.

A new dotted notebook just arrived from an unknown (to me) maker based in a small town on the Scotland/England border of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Beautiful hand-made quality, and it lies flat due to its multi-layer binding. Very innovative for such a product. Leuchtturm and others take note. More later.

The Pen Factory, Hope Street, Liverpool.
But no fountain pens - only ball-points, gel and pencils of the waiting-on staff!

A simple, personal opinion of six, inexpensive fountain pens I’ve acquired recently, to find which I would take along on my daily journaling and note-taking:

Look what arrived this evening from Stilo & Style in Italy - the new Sailor Tuzu in black gloss finish. Too late in the day to ink and experience the anticipated pleasure it promises. More tomorrow …….

Interesting newspaper article as a follow-up on recent appeals in this fountain pen feed seeking out hand-writing expertise. Another case of ‘use it or lose it.’

QUESTION: How many of you actually use the pocket clip on a FP for its intended purpose? Or are they obsolete nowadays? Do they spoil a pen’s aesthetics? Is a pocket carrying case preferred? How do you use your clips?

In ink parlance, what defines the differences between shine, sparkle and shimmer? Used extensively in posts during the Diamine Inkvent period. The +ves and -ves?

Today I made an intended visit (a long time in coming) to WriteHere, a fabulous specialist shop in Shrewsbury UK. Fabulous quality pens, papers and inks. And fabulous informed people. I could have lingered longer, but nearly a hour passed in five minutes and …… 1/2

Just delivered via Amazon, five cheapo Chinese Zebra disposable fp’s at £7.99 inc. shipping. Four out of five working. All a little scratchy, whilst ergonomics ok. I’ll be giving them away to 4 friends who’ve exhibited a modicum of interest in fp’s, like a calling card. Hope they’re not put off.

For those of us that are unhappy with our own handwriting, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I’ve been initially seduced by others of self-importance that failed miserably until this eureka moment. The write stuff.

My new new Rettacy A5 dotted notebook just arrived via Amazon. Purchased on a slight whim with the price being quite low - fourteen quid, delivered. WOW!! Unbelievable value, and the quality is very good: faux tooled leather hard bound, well stitched, good paper, hardly any fuzz or bleed, and extras

So my #Leuchtturm1917 dotted notebook arrived and because I travel frequently, what’s the first thing you do? Put one’s name and co-ordinates in the place provided on the fly leaf, in case of being misplaced. Yes, with a fountain pen, as you would expect.
