Yeah the tanks and planes were Clancy’s star characters. I think the reason they were so compelling is that he wrote their story following a Harpoon wargame simulation, which kept the author’s shallowness at bay with plausibility.

How do you cope with not being able to have a ton of sequential saves in a situation like that because unreal project files get so huge and unwieldy? I’d be terrified without a fork to revert to.

Son of an rich fake artist I worked for in the 90’s was the prop guy on the set of the Crow that was the last guy to handle the gun with the blank in it that killed Brandon Lee.

Yes thats why i like the mechanics in Fate which give you the option of “succeed but at a cost” when you technically fail a roll. So much more interesting and it advances the player’s narrative contribution as they can then decide on or at least contribute to what constitutes the “cost”.

If the mechanics mean a character can swing and randomly miss 5 times in a row no amount of tone is gona make that seem heroic.

People miss that vikings and pirates are the same thing just different eras. A non-white pirate is easy for people to imagine but bogus Ayran mythology and a couple of centuries of art and media makes the vikings into something they weren’t.
