When a FEMA worker tried to skip aid for Trump voters, she got fired, and rightly so. But now we have a whole ass case of our politicians talking about putting limits on aid to US citizens, and people are cheering this on? Like WUUUUT?
FEMA worker fired for telling hurricane responders to avoid homes with pro-Trump signs
FEMA's administrator said the employee told a team responding to hurricane survivors to skip homes with yard signs showing support for Donald Trump.

We need more of this, a big reason why the DNC is losing support is because it doesn't raise up their future leaders.

We could have had Walz nationally :(

6) There are tons more magazines out there, and it'll take a while, but I hope to read a lot more of them

I did not expect the variety in reporting, and a lot of it is still fascinating even today! It will take a while, but I'm committed, at least one a week

5 cont) And then we get to this picture of an older girl, maybe 8 or 9, and it felt icky, like why would they have her pose that way to show off the bow in the back?

(Note, I learned later this pose was most likely to show off the petticoat, but I am copying over from Threads)

5) There was a style feature of various dresses being promoted for Black mothers to sew for their little girls. There were several pictures of toddler and preschool girls, and those dresses were adorable and the little girls were staged adorably.

4) I would personally not try out the pie recipes, but I get that other people would be interested. Here's their Eggnog Pie recipe, that I feel like people would be interested in.

3) How many problems reported on in the 1950s and onward are still timely today. The example of the biracial babies following WWII needing to be adopted out is particular, with the difficulties noted of finding proper homes for the babies in their unique situation touched upon.

2) cont: I particularly enjoyed reading about Ruth Jenkins, who helped 1000s of soldiers and their families transferred to San Diego get acclimated to moving to their new home as the first Black USO volunteer

2) The variety of reporting. The magazine reported on everything from international affairs, to the challenges of adopting out biracial babies following WWII, to the efforts that women made registering fellow Blacks to vote in Baltimore, to Black Madonnas.

1) The advertisements! I knew to expect, but it's still a shock to see multiple ads for bleaching creams, Lysol as a feminine douche, and even MLK Jr. being used to advertise a life insurance company. The last one somehow feels the most shocking, because nowadays, MLK feels deified as a person.

Reading more, watching more, listening more, doing things that would be great to do for *my* sake, instead of hoping that someone takes notice and sees me. Because honestly, with the way this country is today, there are a lot of people in the country alone that I just don't want to know

Man, fuck NY Post. Didn't even need to see much else to know this is from that rag

Meh, I'm not a fan of her music, but I can still acknowledge that she's at least somewhat ethical as a billionaire.

I know that I ideally would get another job, but the job market here is terrible, and they have a couple of benefits that, if I managed to last, could help with retirement. Meanwhile, I just do the job and don't do the whole job worship BS
