The murmur of the drama that plays on the TV is not loud enough for them to pretend they’re watching. Jimin hums, eyes fixed on the wall in front of them. Jeongguk pushes his tongue against his cheek. “Hyung.” He tugs at his hand, pulling their bodies closer together. “You’re not paying attention to me.” Jimin turns his head to face him, slowly blinking his way back into the real world. His features soften when their eyes meet, and Jeongguk softens his grip on him. He hates being rough with Jimin, even by accident. “Namjoon-hyung asked me about you today.” “Oh.” That’s not the answer Jeongguk was expecting.

"You're Jeon Jeongguk-ssi, aren't you?" he asks in Korean. Jeongguk's eyes widen at the straight-forward question. He takes a second to properly look at the person in front of him. A young Korean man, around his same age and height, dressed in monochrome high fashion streetwear. A pair of metallic, thick club sunglasses are pushing his hair back in style. He looks intimidatingly cool, like a model wandering the streets of Harajuku, Japan. "That's right," he replies a beat too late. "Sorry, you are—?" "Jung Hoseok," the man says. The silver rings in his fingers glimmer as he waves them in a nonchalant manner. "Jimin's best friend." Fuck. "Oh, it's a pleasure to meet you, Hoseok-ssi." At Jeongguk's awkward hesitance, Hoseok lets out a high-pitched laugh. "You have no idea of who I am, do you? Aish, typical Jimin." Before Jeongguk can decypher what he means by that, Hoseok sits back down and pats the empty space next to him. "Come sit with me, I don't bite." He definitely looks like he bites. Nonetheless, Jeongguk listens out of self-preservation. "That's a big bouquet," Hoseok says as he stares at the flowers. "Jimin is usually very picky with these things." Jeongguk swallows, mouth suddenly dry. He knew it was a mistake. "Right."

I know there's only one chapter up on ao3 yet, but I can't shut up about Jinkook's relationship in Godspeed. Jimin and JK's bond in the fic will form slowly, but naturally, and in a healthy way-their romantic relationship won't be the cause of angst and inner turmoil (for a while, at least. hehe.), no, all the drama and pain in Godspeed will come from outside sources. For Jimin, it'll manifest in his insecurities regarding his personal life. Just like Jungkook, he's incredibly confident and good at what he does, but getting to that point in his career meant sacrificing or neglecting aspects of his personal life that he won't be able to hide if he really wants things with JK to work. It's going to be !! so much fun !! to explore that!! He reminds me of these two songs sm: The Archer - Taylor Swift, and Starlight - Jennie. (More on this later, if you guys want). BUT BACK TO JINKOOK. Friends?, teammates, rivals. (Everything but a lover, a part of my sick, brocedes-rotted brain screams.) Their dynamic is so interesting to me. In the Godspeed universe, Seokjin is the first Korean driver to make it into F1. Not only that, but the first Korean to win a World Championship. And then another. He's a superstar. He paved the way for little JK, who watched him snatch a historic win in the Monaco GP and promised himself to be just like him one day. And you could argue that he's more succesful than Seokjin. After breaking into F1, he scores more points, more podiums, more wins than Su had at that point of his career. The expectations on JK are high. Unrealistic, sometimes, maybe even unfair. So what happens when you put two highly competitive individuals, who are both fighting to be their country's n°1, in the same team? Pure, utter chaos. With the faith of Italy in their hands, a cruel parallel gets drawn. Kim Seokjin, il primogenito, the first child, the heir. And Jeon Jeongguk, lI Beniamino. the beloved one, the favorite. (Needless to say, Seokjin doesn't take JK's new nickname lightly.) The rivalry and the dramatics following JK's debut in Ferrari are insane. A civil war that only gets tolerated by the team because, well, they deliver results. Seokjin feels threatened almost immediately. He doesn't manage JK's addition to the team because, well, who would, in his shoes? He still believes he has a championship or two under his belt, so he has to bare his teeth and show who truly deserves to be the team's number one. On the other hand, Jeongguk just wants to be seen. Acknowledged by the world, by his idol.He's determined, fast, and proud, and Seokjin's coldness towards him only fuels his competitive side. It's explosive. Age and experience calm Jeongguk down, but the resentment still lives within him. To become the next World Champion, he's going to have to fight his demons, and the first in line has Seokjin's name scribbled all over him.

"Jeongguk-ssi." Goosebumps suddenly rise across Jeongguk's skin. He turns, searching in the crowd for that face he can't forget, and he catches sight of Jimin's pretty lips curling into a smile, standing in front of him. "Jimin-ssi," Jeongguk says, throat feeling dry. There are a million questions running through his head, but he can't seem to get any words out. "Wow, um. Hi, I didn't expect to see you here." Jimin stifles a laugh, eyes turning into crescent moons just as Jeongguk remembered. His skin is glowing under the daylight, already covered in make-up for the cameras but still looking natural and plump. He has a thin line of shimmer under his eyes, and his blond bangs have been parted at the middle and straightened, falling prettily around his long face. Jeongguk craves to feel his lips one more time. "Hi yourself. It's nice to see you again." Jeongguk fidgets with his fingers, uncomfortable under his skin. He doesn't know how to act around him anymore—not in front of this many people, not after the silence that's stretched between them for a month. Jimin's formality could mean nothing, or it could be his elegant way of drawing a boundary. "Yeah, you too"" Jeongguk's throat is dry. He doesn't know where to look. "What are you doing here?" He cringes internally at the question, feeling like he came off harsh, too direct, but Jimin simply laughs it off. "It was kind of a last minute decision," Jimin provides. "Apparently they needed a replacement to film some content, so... here I am," he shrugs. In a softer tone, he adds, "I'm sorry I didn't answer your text, but I figured I'd surprise you." Jeongguk resists the urge to let his jaw fall slack. He stares at Jimin, blinking dumbfoundedly as he tries to process the information, and Jimin shifts awkwardly under his stare. "I hope it didn't come off as rude," Jimin continues, careful, "I just assumed you were expecting to see me much later and by the time I got your text I already knew we'd be filming together." "Oh, no, please. It's okay." Jeongguk swallows down his surprise, hoping to ease the anxiety bubbling behind Jimin's eyes. "I'm a little slow today, sorry. Haven't slept much. I'm happy to see you, genuinely." "I'd been hoping to see you again," Jeongguk says, earnest. There's no time to overthink or to play hard to get. Jimin is here now, and just like that, the countdown has started again. He leans closer to Jimin, lowering his voice. "You look gorgeous today." Jimin smiles. "Well, thank you. You don't look bad yourself." Jimin's unabashed comment comes accompanied by a run of his eyes through Jeongguk's body, making a pit stop at his lips. Jeongguk's skin itches for a better proximity, a much riskier one, but he has enough hold on his sanity to keep himself stranded in place. Jimin moves back, probably having reached the same conclusion as Jeongguk. "I heard you'll be giving me a ride for today's video," Jimin mentions, a small smile forming on his lips. Jeongguk's eyebrows fly up. He catches a couple members of Jimin's staff fluttering around them, lingering nearby as if unsure of when would be the right moment to cut their conversation short. "Is that so? I can't believe my manager didn't mention it before." In a surge of confidence, Jeongguk puts a hand on the side of jimin's arm and leans into his ear with a mischievous smile. "I think your crew is waiting for you," he whispers. Jimin pouts. Visibly pouts, sticking that plump, pink lower lip of his that Jeongguk wants to desperately bite, and looks at Jeongguk with his droopy puppy eyes. Jeongguk sends a quick prayer to the Heavens. "I know," he says with a whiny undertone. Jeongguk's head spins with visions of him in bed just like that. "It's a pity. We haven't even gotten a proper chance to talk." Jeongguk caresses Jimin's arm with his thumb. "I'll look for you after this first round of filming is done. We'll find a place to talk without any distractions, yeah?" Jimin nods and steps away, cautions of prying eyes. He smiles at Jeongguk reassuringly before he spins around to go look for his staff and Jeongguk watches as they take him away for a final rundown of the script. Sighing, he presses his lips together and figures he also needs to get going. Unfortunately, the earth has to keep spinning until the next time he can get Park Jimin alone.

"It's me. I'm still me, for fuck's sake, Jimin." His hands are trembling. "Why can't you talk to me like you used to? What did I do to make you hate me this much?" They're as close as they were in the car, but under the light he can see every detail of his * features. He could map them with his hands from memory, but it would never compare to the real thing. It escapes Jimin how such a thought could cross Jeongguk's mind. Yes, they've fought and hurt, hurt more than anyone could try to comprehend, but Jimin's heart has only ever had one return address. Isn't it obvious? "I don't hate you," he whispers, looking at Jeongguk's face. "I don't know if I can believe you." Jimin's fingers shake where they curl around the fabric of Jeongguk's shirt. "Then don't." "Jeongguk." As much as he knows that this is a bad idea, he can't bring himself to feel shame. The shape of Jeongguk's body over him is familiar, perhaps the last thing that feels like so. In the brief moments that they collide, Jimin feels more comforted than ever, as though he was being cradled by gentle waves. Jeongguk here, right now,is the closest to home Jimin has been in a long, long time. He puts his arms around Jeongguk's neck, pulling him closer. His hands trail alongside the stretch of his torso, caressing the skin that's taut against his ribs as if it were something worth adoring, worth loving. Tears prickle at the corner of his eyes and threaten to fall before one finally does, leaving a streak down the side of his face. Jeongguk, close enough to feel it wet his own skin, kisses the rise of his cheekbone. As if Jimin's pain were his own, as if they ached and bloomed together all the same.
