Good morning BlueSky. On the bus to go and collect my car. Every time I take the bus here in Italy I'm struck by the fact that they're all part of BusItalia; part of Trenitalia, the national railways. How sensible is that? So different from broken Britain (thanks Thatcher).

I'm managing to get out on my bike, exercising my new knees these days. Lovely to enjoy these vistas which one doesn't notice when the trees are in leaf. I'm so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

It turns out there were two effigies of Starmer. Cliffe Bonfire Society had Starmer the Farmer Harmer.

This was one of the effigies blown up at the Lewes bonfire celebrations this week. If they're already making effigies of Starmer just one year into his government it gives you a pretty good indication of just how unpopular he and his government are.

Menton is beautiful. It has the added advantage of being on the border with Italy! This is just above it last summer. I was doing a concert there.

No PM, they weren't the right decisions. The right decisions would have been reversing the 5% loss to the economy caused by Brexit; taxing the rich; not promising tax cuts to US tech companies; closing the loop holes allowing Amazon etc to get away with paying very little tax...

After a weird April where the weather has oscillated between warm and sunny and cold and wet, it's nice to get some really warm weather at last. 28° today.

I usually make my own granola but was feeling lazy the other day and bought some in Lidl. Never again. So full of sugar it was disgusting. Here's a newly made batch. Just awaiting the sultanas, which I add later because they tend to burn.

Why does the media always have to indulge in this sort of tittle-tattle? It's not news, it's pure gossip. No-one knows what will happen and such speculation is unedifying. They did similarly after the Queen died. It's pure self indulgence.
