I think “classic socialism” is being used to refer to early 20th century attempts at socialist societies, such as the Soviet Union, East Germany, Cuba, North Korea, etc. All of which devolved into authoritarianism. Kinda like American capitalism is doing now

Both capitalism and socialism have been implemented (at least partially) but neither created the utopian society it was supposed to. They both seem to work best when they coexist in balance with each other.

Not all humans are greedy. Some are, not all. Both capitalism and socialism are just economic theories. It’s not possible for either one to exist in its pure, theoretical form in real life.

I don’t think it’s about Trump anymore. He’s a shell of his former self and soon the dementia will put him beyond Putin’s reach. What we need to figure out is why the rest of the GOP leadership is going along with it.
