It's political theater, but it is damn impressive. I'm at the point of begging Senator Booker to outdo that old creep Strom Thurmond.

The distributer of the Star Trek intellectual property is caving to the callous pressure of a reactionary government and rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives? I'm unsubscribing. Tell them you'll draw the line here and no further.

I'm starting to build a thesis about how binary thinking, which has suffused everything humans think and do since at least the creation of *language*, is the source of basically all *avoidable* suffering. If I actually get it out the way I want to, it's going to ring some bells.

Apple has been making some really good and engaging sci-fi. It's uncomfortable, admittedly, to have to zoom in and look at a compelling story knowing that a massively overpowered mega-corporation is looming over the top of it and its various clever cousins.
First look at the Murderbot Diaries TV adaptation shows Alexander Skarsgård in the title role, helmet on and off
Apple describes the upcoming 10-episode series as a “comedic thriller.”

Has any actor understood the assignment for interpreting a Shakespearean part better than Harold Perrineau as Mercutio? I say nay.

A Zen koan that really nailed things for me today:

If you call yourself wise, you have already made a mistake.
If you say "I am not wise," you have already made a mistake.
If you seek wisdom, you are already running past it.
If you let go, wisdom is already here.

My mind often returns to a lyric from Steven Universe. "Why don't you talk to each other? Just give it a try... You might not believe it but you've got a lot in common. You really do."

Come on, Team Human. Get it together before it's too late.

What do the most hateful and the most scared (and the hazy path between fear and hate really needs a light shined on it) *actually* believe? I'm so very much ready to listen to what any person has to say about how the way the world is conflicts with their beliefs.

While "What Would Jesus Do?" is a functionally decent question to ask, why don't folks then ask "Why Don't I Always WANT to Do What Jesus Would Do?"

I don't hate Christians, but holy heck do they confuse me. Why are so many of them scared of knowledge? Knowledge is a human legacy under their beliefs. Adam and Eve can't un-eat the Apple of Knowledge; and, according to their scripture, if they hadn't eaten it none of us would even exist!

I'm still recovering from how good Wicked is. Any 2 second sound bite (today it's Ariana grunting out "RIGHT" on "Popular'), video clip, still image, or mention pulls me right back in.

Anyone in the top 10% bracket of income should be required to write and publically share a minimum 5 page essay on John Rawls' concept of the Veil of Ignorance or otherwise immediately divest their wealth until they are closer to the median.

so the thing is

just because someone is not posting about every horror, does not mean they aren't paying attention or being active in opposition, and I do hope people can learn to read for other signs of resistance rather than demand people create a 24/7 feed of screaming

it's actually not helpful

Sorry to break this to you. If you're not doing your chores while listening to 'Breezin' by George Benson, you're doing chores wrong.

This is one of those shows a person can watch to get to know me *a lot* better. Season 2 is bonkers in so many awesome ways and I'm looking forward to it getting closer to mainstream.
