The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, congratulated Zohran Mamdani on his election victory.

In Tasmania children as young as 10 can be held on remand in adult prisons. Staff reported anxiety and risks to themselves and to child detainees – but we found this out by accident.

Just reposting this which I think is the most gorgeous thing I have seen in my career - a critically endangered orange-bellied parrot feeding on a carpet of daisies after an ecological burn. This was the first time they’d had the chance to feed naturally in 15y and was wonderful to witness

Proposed hate crime laws in Tasmania would bring the state closer to some overseas jurisdictions, where people can be convicted based off evidence of hateful/prejudicial behaviour.

Rather than having to prove motivation/state of mind, as is currently the case and has been ineffective.

Through Right to Information laws, activists found racing greyhounds have been euthanased due to an acute condition caused by overexertion.

They were then placed in an 'illness/age' deaths category, rather than being recorded as a racing-related death.
