The one reason is just one more year to organize and flush the old regime and the Tucker mess. Let JS have one more off season with a better AD and see what happens. I can see doing it now but another year may make the most sense in the long run

Nah, at any B1G school you are near the top. And with a new AD can sell a new vision. State does not need the best avaliable, the right fit can make them a top 10 team. Dantiono now would have MSU solid in the playoff 2 of 3 years.

This is really the thing. Obviously offense and Q play is super important, but you have to build a MSU team around defense and toughness. If mission #1 is not hit em with a crowbar I dont think it will work. The program is blue collar football to the core, just look at the retired names

You still have the better history, but take out the pre-war numbers when the high and mighty wolverines would not play in EL it becomes much closer. In the B1G record is at 29-42-2. State wins just shy of 40%
