A report came out in 考古 a few weeks ago (2025.9).

“Late Warring States Tomb No.1 at Wuwangdun in Huainan City, Anhui 安徽淮南市武王墩战国晚期一号墓”, with HQ images and detailed descriptions of the area, the tomb structure, and some selected objects found therein.

The first article is titled

“TheArcheological Discovery of Wuwangdun tomb no. 1 in Huainan, Anhui 安徽淮南武王墩一号墓考古新发现” is published in Cultural Relics 2025.5. It introduces the location of tomb #1, the King’s tomb, its structure (9 chambers), with HQ images of some of the objects found in it.

I was very lucky to be able to visit this site in person! For those who haven’t been yet: there are two academic publications from the last few weeks on King Kaolie’s 烈王 tomb in Anhui, known as the Wuwangdun 武王墩 tomb.

Once again i had a wonderful time, this time in Anhui! The Wuwangdun tomb is an absolute marvel. Very grateful to Sarah Allan for introducing me to Xu Zaiguo, and then to Xu Zaiguo and Cheng Yan for welcoming me so warmly. Great people all around. Off to Shanghai now!

To say that I’m having a wonderful time in Jingzhou is an understatement. Very grateful to Prof Zhao Xiaobin for being such an amazing host, taking me and my colleague Boqun to see sites and manuscripts. The richness of the new discoveries is simply incredible.

If you're new to the Warring States manuscripts, I published a piece with my colleague Li Yumeng which introduces the *Kongzi said and *Zhongni said manuscripts. And it's open access!

Do they derive from a common sources? It seems clear that the sentence "晏平仲祀其先人" was always associated with "豚肩不掩豆", and that only by being learned together, the two in fact become a literary token.
