Well if it makes you happy, I will stop using Onlyoffice and hope LibreOffice has gotten better at MS Office compatibility I will stick with it and if it doesn't, I will have to keep using onlyoffice. Sound fair? I know the Pro/Anti AI debate is touchy.
December 15, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Well there is so much discourse on the matter so It's sometimes hard to tell what's an argument anymore.
Things are so crazy anymore, so my defensive walls are always up.
December 15, 2025 at 11:30 PM
When you work in a professional environment, you sadly have to work with what you got. It's not in my hands here, as I legit need MS office compatibility because of my job.
December 15, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Well I could stop using onlyoffice, but again it comes with caveats. Don't get me wrong, libreoffice is pretty solid, and I have used it in the past, but it's MS Office compatibility is a legit issue. When you work with its formats on a regular basis, LibreOffice's failings sadly come to light.
December 15, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Well unfortunately MS Office is still an industry standard and sadly libreoffice isn't a viable alternative for all cases. It still has trouble with MS formats and I have to use what works. The other MS office alternatives are okay but still lack features or compatibility.
December 15, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Mind you Onlyoffice devs didn't cave into AI pressure this was something voted on by the community. Since the vote broke even this was what they came up with.
Its not ideal but I will still use Onlyoffice because its better at MS Office compatibility than Libreoffice.
December 15, 2025 at 10:15 PM
The only reason Onlyoffice added the feature was because its directly competing with MSoffice/ google docs and since both now have "AI" features there was a demand for it. However in effort not to alienate anti AI folks they made a (reasonable) compromise.
December 15, 2025 at 10:15 PM
If I use it, it's only for editing purposes, I have dyslexia and only use such things for proofreading.
December 15, 2025 at 9:11 PM
The approach here is different than say Adobe where its like "here's AI you are going to use it and like it!" it's more like "You want to use AI? Okay, but you are going to have to work for it, no out of the box chatbots here, son."
Much better approach to the matter.
December 15, 2025 at 9:09 PM
Yeah, this is why I like how OnlyOffice (an MS Office alternative) is handling its "AI" feature. It's out of the way and is not mandatory. It's just a menu item, simply labeled "AI" that doesn't do anything unless you configure it and is anything but forced on the user.

I say all this as yes... I'm a former MAGA something I don't take pride in anymore. Trump lost me during the pandemic and the trend I saw in the MAGA movement more favoring Alt-right rhetoric as time passed. But this does give me much insight on how he came to power.
December 12, 2025 at 2:28 AM
No Trump was able to slide in due to the Republican Party losing favor after Bush's term, and when the Republicans did not have a single solid candidate he gained favor in the party.
Say what you will about Trump, but he was always a sly son of a bitch... an opportunist biding his time.
December 12, 2025 at 2:28 AM
The bigger issue comes when you factor more broad election, this is something that we can learn from Trump's previous attempts. He tried to run independent all the way back in the 2000s and failed, and even dipped his toes in the democrat ticket as he didn't always favor the republicans.
December 12, 2025 at 2:28 AM
That I'm not sure, my knowledge is based more on the base metrics, but there is still an obvious pattern. For local elections, third parties have a far larger chance as it's easier to run a local campaign than a broader one as you don't have to worry about funds and backers.
December 12, 2025 at 2:28 AM
Let's learn from how Trump came to power, not by third parties but taking advantage of the binary system. He saw a weakness in the Republican Party and stepped in using that weakness.
If we want to beat this son of a bitch, we need to use his playbook against him.
December 11, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Perhaps, but third party votes mean nothing, US politics is incredibly binary. Hell, this is a lesson Donald Trump learned the hard way as he had to finagle his way onto the Republican ticket. Remember, his 2016 campaign wasn't his first try at the Oval Office. Third party won't slay this monster.

Pokemon gone horribly, horribly wrong

Thus why I hope Moopsys have Species 8472 immunity
December 11, 2025 at 8:04 PM
Nah the Moopsy is immune like species 8472/ The Undine
December 11, 2025 at 8:03 PM
Yeah but the steam alternatives are not all that great IMHO and there is the matter of native Linux support.
GOG needs a proper linux port
December 10, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Yeah. Granted, chatGPT doesn't do this as often as it once did, but it still has this quirk when I play with it now and then.
More out of morbid curiosity, mind you.
December 10, 2025 at 7:43 AM
Yes, I have played with it, but outside of maybe proofreading and editing text, I see little of value in it.
This AI bubble will burst sooner or later and while I don't think it will kill GenAI entirely, it will not be what it is now.
December 10, 2025 at 4:14 AM
Well video generation is currently GenAI's largest weak spot and makes me wonder if it will finally break the grasp GenAI has on the market.
Image generation itself is very hit-and-miss, leaving text its only strong suit (with a huge asterisk, mind you.)
December 10, 2025 at 4:14 AM
The poor em dash though, a legit punctuation mark marred by AI's overuse of them. I still use them, but very sparingly.
December 10, 2025 at 3:59 AM
Yeah the built-in grammar checks are kinda crap and is the only time I think GenAI can be of use.
I mean I know I have talent and skill, just have a weakness with grammar and punctuation, a side effect of my dyslexia.
I usually manage on my own but nice to have a tool to double check your work.
