i also was the first to report on the deportations happening at MSP — i interviewed an ecuadorian man who had been deported that way. no one on the plan spoke spanish, he said, and he landed in ecuador with no phone and no wallet, hours from his family.

in june, we got the first major raid. i was on the ground — it was confusing. ICE was there, but authorities said it was a criminal raid, not immigration-related. everyone was waiting for them to come out of the taqueria with a bunch of employees in handcuffs, but that never happened.
