No - knowledge is not dead because you don’t accept the people who hold that knowledge as experts. Who else do you think is an expert if not the people with a lifetime of lived experience?

Okay but as a rule, even with formal education, we should never be explaining racism to Black and Brown people. It would be like you explaining sexism to me. It’s a bit rich and super condescending. And well, racist.

It is 100% up to us to fix what we have created. We have to spend so much more time listening and so much less time talking. There is great literature and wonderful people wiling to spend their energy educating and informing. Just be open to the information. We have to do better. Be better.

I guess my hope is that if these conversations are had in good faith, at first, maybe someone like yourself can hear what’s being said and take it away and learn. Please do. Please be one of the ppl who can open their minds and accept this info.

I just think it sets a dangerous precedent to want to include ideological racism in the same conversation as systemic racism. I ascribe to the idea that systemic racism is racism and ideological or personal “racism” is a wholly different thing. And not racism. I don’t agree at all with this article

Okay - there are a few issues with this. The author of this is white. It seems like an incredibly biased opinion to take on this subject. White people are notorious for wanting to play victim but not take responsibility for being perpetrators. We need to do better here. We don’t face racism.

Okay - but on an individual level, you’re still not facing racism. At most it’s discrimination. Racism, sexism, all of the isms are at a systemic level. That’s the point. If you’re not dealing with systemic oppression and disadvantage, it’s not racism.

White supremacy exists everywhere. Not just the US. I’m not in the US and this concept isn’t lost on me. Racism and sexism (and other isms) exist within a power dynamic. Without that power dynamic, it’s prejudice. But there is no systemic issue faced by the ‘in power’ group.
