But to me - it was part of the job.

Oh absolutely. I read physical books to learn HTML, Dreamweaver, Flash, Director, and some super basic XML. Google was brand new, so online resources were quite scant… definitely no YouTube tutorials.

100% agree. Same was true for web designers 25 years ago. I was never going to make anything amazing raw-dogging HTML … but it def helped that I understood the basics and related functions. It both helped my designs and troubleshooting when things went wrong (which led to better design decisions)

Why tell them when they tell on themselves?

Seriously.

At least when people pirated, they knew they were stealing. But they’ll pay a monthly subscription to arms investors and give away tons of data rather than support the artist in ways that matter.

I had an improv band ages ago that recorded without stems. Some was good enough to release as-is, but others *could have* been releasable if we had recorded to stems for me to tighten a few bits.

Now when I do solo gear jams, I usually record stems…even if I don’t have a specific use in mind.

Had a similar realisation that some of my albums are now older than my university students. 😳 #imold

I absolutely love everything about it….Especially how it forces me to be in the moment. Recreating previous patches is practically impossible - therefore I know I have to record any and every time I play with it. It is such a visceral and yet versatile creature. Truly inspiring.

Even worse - there is a deli here that doesn’t cut their baguettes in half after making the sandwich. Wtf am I supposed to do with this javelin-sized sub??
