“I love that you’ve kept it simple.” Mum eyes the small tree, which I decorated at 4am while my son finally slept, when I should’ve been sleeping too. Now he’s snug in Mum’s arms while she sips a Baileys, ice clinking.
My heavy lids drift closed.
“Isn’t this such a lovely age?” Mum says.
