WIP Wednesday: still need to add some ears to this pile of handmade Catan sheep

Do you think the perky-eared sheep or the droopy-eared sheep are more charming? My vote is on perky because they look so inquisitive. The slight head tilt adds to the vibe, I think.

This was such a fun commission! I was asked to make game upgrades for Sheep & Thief. I already make white sheep for Catan, so the black sheep were easy. The foxes however were new!

Although this set won’t be listed in my shop, I am happy to make it again upon request.

These have been on my to-do list for so long that I’m thrilled to finally have the full set (8 birds of each color) finished! I still haven’t quite decided if I like the solid color birds better or the painted ones.

WIP Wednesday: action tokens for Wingspan. These derpy little birds probably won’t be fully finished until next week but I’m already in love!

I just can’t help but admire how nice they look with my other Wingspan upgrades, and how nicely they bring the theme together. Can’t wait to play again!

This harvest basket turned out so cute that I can’t even wait to make the others before posting! I think this is one of my favorite upgrades yet.

Finally finished up these tiny empty bowls to serve as a cutesy replacement for Agricola’s beggar tokens. Next up: I am making upgrades for the “5x food” Agricola tokens.

A recently completed fully custom commission. When starting this project I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to pull off making a Tonka dumptruck this small.... but I'm so pleased that I tried, because look at how wonderfully adorable it turned out! 😍

28 large handmade and hand painted RuneScape runes being held in an open hand. The runes are made from polymer clay and have vibrant eye-catching colors that closely resemble the in-game items. Had a special request to add newer RS3 runes (the 4 necromancy runes + time rune) to my rune bottle and was happy to oblige! I had to mix some new colors for the necromancy runes but I think they turned out to be a close match 😄

Holding my tiny handmade (and hand-painted) RuneScape runes and a small glass bottle with cork. This customer wanted a dark gray RS3 set that included all of the newer runes, so I added the four purple necromancy runes and the time rune to complete the set. When added to the bottle, there is enough space for the runes to tumble around, effectively making this a calming and nostalgic fidget toy for neurospicy RuneScapers

Just a little throwback to one of my favorite personal projects: Subeta minis.

I hope to eventually revisit other Subeta characters and add more of these little sculptures to my collection, but in the meantime, here’s my version of Pete, Sarah, and The Wizard:

I wasn’t a fan of Agricola’s beggar tokens, so I made these empty bowls to replace them. While taking these photos I realized there are supposed to be 10 instead of 4 🤦🏻‍♀️

My handcrafted upgrades for the adventurers in the Forbidden Island board game, sculpted completely from scratch with polymer clay, acrylic paint, and satin polyethylene sealer. The game has non-descript titles for each of these characters with no reference images, and I hated the generic player tokens, so I made up these original characters for my game. Left to right: Pilot, Diver, Messenger, Navigator, Explorer, Engineer. My Forbidden Island characters shown on the game tiles. I love that the vibrant colors do not look at all out of place — they truly feel like they belong with this game!

Today I finished getting these two RuneScape-themed orders ready for shipment.

After 3 weeks with zero orders, I can’t emphasize enough how much I appreciated some structured work time lol
Two complete sets of chonky life-sized runes, hand crafted with polymer clay, acrylic paint, and satin polyurethane finish. Hand-painted and sealed on both sides, the faces of each rune are approximately the diameter of a US dime. This order was made for someone who plays both OSRS and RS3, so the exclusive runes from each game (Armadyl, Wrath, and Sunfire) were included along with all of the runes that both games have in common. A miniature RuneScape max coin stack on an oval black base, and a small bottle keychain filled with 2 home teleport spell casts. Prior to shipment, the runes were placed back in the bottle and the cork glued into place to keep these incredibly tiny runes safe and secure. Both the keychain and the miniature max stack are pictured next to a US dime to show their incredibly small scale.

Painting a RuneScape body rune, made with polymer clay and then hand-painted and sealed on both sides. In the background, a full set of runes from both RS3 and OSRS are visible. They’re roughly the diameter of a US dime and have a nice weight to them. They are pretty labor-intensive but I imagine them to feel more authentic than 3D printed versions. I’m proud to have finally nailed down my process for making these a consistent size and thickness.

My handcrafted Pilot character for Forbidden Island. The character cards in this game are super non-descript and allow for a lot of creative freedom when designing the characters. This character token is made entirely from scratch with polymer clay and stands about 1.5 inches tall. The game’s original wooden game pieces alongside my hand-sculpted upgrades. The characters are: Electrician (white), Climber (black), Knotsmith (navy blue), Medic (orange), Navigator (yellow), and Surveyor (green). The character cards in the game are pretty non-descript. They provide a character title but no official reference images for the character itself, so these are completely original characters that I made up myself. The game’s original rocket ship and other parts shown next to my Knotsmith, Surveyor, and Electrician.

It’s WIP Wednesday again and this week I’m taking a break from larger projects to focus on making tiny RuneScape runes (standard size lime skittle pictured for scale!).

I then make keychains, desk fidgets, or mini sculptures out of them.

My work area: in the top right is a labeled piece of cardstock with the name of each rune. I use to ensure I never skip a rune while making these. Next to that is several different creations I make with these runes: home teleport keychain, one of each rune keychain, one of each rune flat bottomed desk fidget, and mini sculptures (featuring a max coin stack, partyhat, and a spell cast). A standard sized Skittle next to an incredibly tiny nature rune. I shape the runes from scratch with polymer clay and then hand-paint them on each side.

A set of my original Ticket To Ride ticket conductor score tokens alongside the boring original tokens. My cute little character meeples are made 100% from scratch with polymer clay and acrylic paint and closely match the original score token colors. They look great on the game board with the original trains, like they were always meant to be part of the game. One huge unexpected benefit of these is that they are about 1.5 inches tall (roughly 3x taller than the original tokens), making them more visible on the board. More visibility means that I'm a lot more likely to remember to move my score marker. They're also a great conversation starter and gaming groups always love them.

Throwback to my largest order to date (from 2020).
I vividly remember feeling awful about the length of time it took me to complete the 3 sets of Ticket to Ride score tokens so that I could ship this stuff.

I hope that this person is still enjoying these game pieces :)

The order was 3 sets of Ticket To Ride conductor score tokens, a Wise Old Man token, and a huge assortment of potions. When I asked about what they were going to do with so many different potions, they replied that they were going to use them for the board game "Barrage", which I had never even heard of. I frequently wish that they had sent me a photo of those potions during gameplay. I bet they looked amazing with the game!
