The fundamental flaw of the US system is that its administrators and shareholders are different people with different priorities from its consumers and the priorities of the former supercede - the primary of which is profit margin, not the wellbeing of the consumer.

How do we know she remembers that class? 1) She can and does follow every command when she's in the mood and doesn't have a higher priority. 2) Worse, she learned "touch" as the final command in a sequence to get a treat and now uses "touch" to tell us she wants something; it became "give it to me."

Better that they fail obedience than that they pass and thereby demonstrate that they're perfectly *capable* of following direction. My mom's labX is 4 and continues to be selective in following the directions we 100% (her obedience class skill success rate) know she knows.

Which Trump supporters would that land with? The ones who already know he's dumb and don't care or the ones who think he's smart and are made to feel better about themselves in his anti-intellectual world?

And then there's my sibship. Double-loaded... with intrauterine Tylenol, of course.

Another has a kid with "social anxiety" who, for years, sequestered himself away at family events with a cousin (aka my sibling) who conveniently had the same intense interests he did.

One of her kids, born in the 40s, never left home and has had 2 friends as an adult. She avoids any kind of difficult interpersonal interaction like the plague and is happiest watching TV, playing games, and hanging with her pets. Another has ADHD and produced a kid with ADHD.

In fairness to his genes... er, unrelated challenges with social skills... my 1920s-born maternal grandmother didn't hug anyone older than an infant despite adoring her kids + grandkids, felt no need to have friends, and added a gaming chair to her living room in her 70s after getting a Nintendo.

My father, whose mother wrote him letters at university coaching him on how to interact with extended family in the city and telling him he *needed to* interact with others, was born in the early 40s. That he has neuroatypical kids, grandkids, and nephews is, I'm sure, an unrelated fluke.

Trump realism. It's realism. Were it not for the harm he does to others, he would be too pathetic to feel anything but pity for.

If grifter MAGA, they will likely already have recognized that Trump's depth of concern for others is akin to that of a puddle after a 2 minute light rain.
September 19, 2025 at 10:56 PM
And let's be real. If his family is Trump-worshiping MAGA, not grifting MAGA, they'll delude themselves that Trump actually cares regardless of evidence to the contrary.

I don't see an issue with pointing out the blatant disregard of a narcissistic toddler man who was otherwise himself using Kirk's death for political theatre - and his family weren't likely to see Trump's total lack of caring *via Kimmel* in the absence of the suspension mess that followed.

The monologue preceded the mainstream media stories with more information about the shooter. At the point he spoke, the groyper stuff was going strong, bits of social media suggested that could be. Did he say the shooter absolutely WAS maga, by the way, or did his language suggest the possibility?

Mainstream media stories about those text messages largely came out Tuesday, not Monday. Some came out yesterday.

I'm bored now. Have a nice day!

You think simply pointing out Trump's actual depth of feeling re: the situation is being a vicious ass? The target was Trump, not Kirk nor Kirk's family, who could as easily have seen that clip of Trump somewhere else - more easily, really, since it's unlikely they're Kimmel viewers.
September 18, 2025 at 12:31 PM
Plenty was *not* known. Stories were being put out and retracted related to a possible trans connection (wherein being pro-trans rights somehow = left-wing, not a basic human rights position) while there was also content in the public domain suggesting the shooter might be a Groyper.
September 18, 2025 at 12:13 PM
I'm not sure what public figure you've been watching over a course of years if you think there was more to Trump's emotional processing than that. He couldn't even feign the emotional distress this didn't cause him. His feelings kick in when *he* feels attacked (hence his hatred of Kimmel).
September 18, 2025 at 11:56 AM
Those aren't inconsistent with each other.

Re: "how Trump processed," that would be 1) turning murder into a show by putting flags at 1/2 mast when this isn't normally done for someone of Kirk's stature, then 2) being personally fine, per Trump himself, and seemingly more interested in a ballroom.
