Their plan is to backdoor him in, probably through speaker of the house. 22d says no one can be ELECTED for any more than two terms. It doesn’t say they are INELIGIBLE. This is how they will try to do it.

They will argue he is only ineligible to be ELECTED to a third term. Serving two terms is not explicitly listed as making someone ineligible. My guess is speaker of house > VP and President resign making him president. It’s obviously a reach but this is the route they’re going.
