excessive worrying is nothing more than an outdated survival mechanism from a childhood where love and/or safety were not guaranteed. since worries are only thoughts, they can be safely ignored if deemed unreasonable, and gradually they will fade away.

(on the idea of "the one" as a romantic partner):

for many, it is a fantasy of a parental figure who loves them unconditionally. someone to fix them.

this is why someone who is obsessed with "the one" will never find them, because they do not exist. The only "one" you ever need is yourself.

telling someone that they are good at something is unnecessary
they should know that fact within themselves and not need external validation

to suffer is to deny reality

Humans have the intellectual capacity to reject reality, which leads to evil. No other animal can do this. #Stoicism

evil = internal suffering = conscious or subconscious rejection of reality #Stoicism #Reality

children must reject traumatic reality by necessity to survive, and it is a pattern one must break in adulthood.

you must place trust at the heart of social interactions rather than doubt.

you must have a genuine curiosity for the perspectives of others.

you must unshackle yourself from embarrassment.

you must be truly authentic to find true connection.

I don’t think we need to give ourselves the pressure to “live our lives fully”. All that exists is the present moment, and if you are living that fully then there is nothing to worry about. Our lives may be cosmically insignificant, but the present moment is always significant. #Stoicism

all that separates us from simpler animals is complexity of thought. the smartest genius is as conscious as the humblest neurotypical is as conscious as the smallest fish. a computer is still “on” no matter how powerful its CPU may be. #consciousness

(Forgiveness) is accepting that people make mistakes, even catastrophic ones, and to judge someone for that is to deny reality.

i think fundamentally forgiveness is accepting reality.

it is accepting who a person is, rather than who you wanted them to be.

it is accepting that you did not know any better than your actions at the time, rather than wishing you could have somehow known better. (1/2)

we must come to terms with our transient nature. there will always be things we could have done, skills we could have learned. we will always be incomplete. #Stoicism
