Sure, but that was never going to be a thing. My point isn't that they should have carried on with the old connectors for ever.
If they had either stuck with the slightly larger pins of the PCIe 8pin, or they had gone for 16 pins instead of 12, it would have created more headroom.

This is completely expected though, right? If you chose a smaller connector, and put more power over it, you're going to remove the overhead for coping with issues. It may be 'in spec' for the connector, but its ability to deal with wear and misalignment with be seriously diminished.

It's great to see the progress you're making with this and all the different manufacturing disciplines you're hitting along the way. Will it fit in a 1u sized gap?
