For #WyrdWednesday 's insect topic, an image from Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium (1705) by Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717) depicting the metamorphosis of butterflies. Still in the #earlymodern period, insects were believed to be spontaneously generated from mud, which is disproved here.

En España los palos de las cartas época medieval se establecieron representando las clases sociales de la época: OROS (representación del dinero, los banqueros, el comercio), COPAS (representación del clero), BASTOS (el pueblo llano), ESPADAS (el ejército).

´Mujer tomando café´ es una obra de Louis Marin Bonnet, de 1774. En este grabado podemos apreciar la costumbre de tomar café directamente del plato y no de la taza, con el fin de lograr que la bebida se atemperara vertiendo el contenido al platillo.
