One Good Thing Everyday
This little one is hard at work building her market stand. I love that the kids enjoy things Ike these!

We did SO much demo on the triplex this weekend. And we spared a little time to start our search for our next family member, too!

Quilting kid, getting it done! I love working on patience and persistence with this kid as we make our road trip quilt!

I sure love these kiddos! They are just the best!

There used to be a wall here covered with a it of dark panels. Now there isn’t! Soon the space will be much cooler, too!

Grateful to be able to exercise some educational choice. Miles has been on the waitlist to go to Hazel’s school. We had a rough adjustment to solo homeschool. His number didn’t get called for this year but by the time it did get called, we had made other plans! I’m so glad we found our flow again!

I finished up our family picture book which I print out for the kids’ memory boxes. I had one extra page so we made a little time capsule in print :)

I am loving this end of school thing with field trips every week. I get to chaperone for Hazel and her class always welcomes Miles. He said they made him feel like a movie star, they all get excited to see him. I think it’s a pretty neat addition to walks through the forest, learning about beavers!

What a lucky mother I am! Beautiful town, awesome partner, lovely home, a garden in the ground and amazing kiddos. I don’t know why I got so lucky but I am grateful for it!

These kids had their first payday for helping out with the triplex remodel! One took the whole paycheck and put it in the bank. The other was mad that we made her put half of it in the bank for future opportunities. Darn family financial rules!

Today’s good thing was giving more team clovers with their snacks the last game, they were called the lucky clovers after all.

Today’s good thing is this group of kids who are teaching my boy how teams work! They were dealt a small team which hasn’t won them many games but they have learned a lot, especially about passing so they don’t have to run so darn much!

Today’s good thing is my new lucky dress which I found at yard sale for $4. It has pockets. It also has a bigger story which you can read here, minimotives.com/2025/05/04/w...

Easily today’s one good thing is running into Doug, the blue Great Dane! We had lunch together (I pushed myself into his families life). Today is 7 days shy of two years after Denver passed away. It was good therapy to get to spend time with Doug! And I love that he made the same derpy face as D!

All of our fruit trees that we planted last fall survived both the winter AND whatever animal tried to strip their bark. I was sure we’d lose at least a couple. So happy to be wrong! They sure are getting pretty!

I found this dried out little root ball on the sidewalk two weeks ago. It had little dusty green sprouts and no soil. I was sure it was dead but I took it home anyway and put it in this pot. It seems to really like being here and is getting prettier everyday. It makes me smile to see it!

The sunset was fabulous tonight and well appreciated after some stressful weeks of advocating which culminated in a big ‘win’! This view reminds me of why the work I have been doing matters. When you get ahead in life, it’s important to reach a hand back and help others.

There were a lot of great things today but this moment is my favorite. These men gave me the time of day, researched my words and stood up to support a cause I have been wrestling for the last year and a half. They did it diplomatically and they did it well! I feel peaceful, at least for a minute!

Today I crossed off a bucket list item: I bought a weeping willow! I have always had a weird fascination with the tree, I just love them! They are big, dancy and whimsical! And now, our lower field gets to nurture one. One day it will provide shade to some cute creatures.

Saturdays good thing, we’re getting demo done in that triplex. A lot of work to do but the final goal will bring the place forward 40 years!

Todays good thing is proof that both of my kids can write! Miles has had me worried. It turns out he just needed a good reason. He also prefers typing to hand writing. I say whatever in this digital age… Hazel is only getting more creative!

Market wares are well under way. We’ve found a whooping 69 four leaf clovers already this year. Not all of them will survive to charm-hood but they are all thrilling to spot!

We have the best Indian food restaurant ever called Karma. Palak paneer, mango curry, butter chicken and the most sour thing I’ve ever eaten, lemon mango pickle chutney with naan!

You might think the best part of the day was petting these ADORABLE baby goats, but it wasn’t. The best part was these wonderful kids! I’m so glad my kids know these kids and are able to call them friends!

The baby goats WERE pretty good though, not gonna lie…

This is not MY picture but it’s my one good thing today. My third grader taught me about tetration, does anyone know about this!? I was shocked I never learned this despite seeing those ‘exponents’ on the wrong side before. Basically, it’s a way to make a number get really big, really fast! :D
