Bluesky is an improvement over Twitter so far but isn’t doing a great job adapting my algorithm when I say I’m not interested in something. Getting fed a LOT of repetitive stuff I don’t care about, hopefully that part improves.

The closest to “spectacle driven mainstream franchise” of these is Elden Ring, which I would say stretches that definition and beat a much, much more spectacle driven and mainstream franchise in God of War.

The last three GotY winners were a super punishing fantasy game, a co-op game playing as dolls, and a turn based RPG. I’m not seeing the bias towards blockbuster action games.

I get why people are up in arms about Shadow of the Erdtree, but honestly, I didn’t feel like I was playing less of a sequel than I did playing Breath of the Wild or Ragnarok. It was a HUGE amount of content.

FromSoft is good at this. Elden Ring is the open world edition, but Dark Souls 1 and 3 are masterclasses when it comes to giving you vistas in the early game where you can pick out almost all of the destinations you're gonna go see on your journey. 3 in particular, you can see almost everything.

Ya know, as both a gamer and a working musician myself, I really hadn't considered this in the modern music scene. Which is weird, because I love video game music, but it hadn't really occurred to me just how much cool orchestral music is written annually for this field that I shouldn't write off.
